Solheim Cup assistant captain Angela Stanford threw her first pitch at MLB side Washington Nationals' game on Friday, August 9. The Washington Nationals beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2.
The highlight of the game was Alex Call's RBI single in the 10th inning. Meanwhile, LPGA golfer Stanford was also at the game and threw the first pitch at the Nationals Park.
She said (via Solheim Cup Team USA's X handle):
"Hey everyone, Angela here. We are at the Nationals game tonight, and I get to throw out the first pitch. We are exactly five weeks away from the first match of the Solheim Cup 2024 out of Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Buy your tickets and go USA."
The Washington Nationals took to X to share the video of Stanford throwing the first pitch. They captioned the post:

Angela Stanford, who turned professional in 2000 has represented the United States six times at the Solheim Cup (2003, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015). The US won the Cup in 2007, 2009 and 2015.
Stanford has played 20 matches in the Solheim Cup and has an overall record of 4-13-3. Her records in different competitions are as follows:
- Singles: 3–3–0
- Foursomes: 1–5–1
- Fourballs: 0–5–2
She gained 5.5 points for Team USA out of her 20 points, with a maximum of 2.5 points out of her three points.
