Greg Norman, the LIV Golf CEO, was heavily criticized by fans for joining the Saudi-backed series. Besides funding for the series, Norman serves as its CEO and makes all the important decisions regarding the tournament.

Despite the PGA Tour having bad blood towards the legendary golfer, Norman remains loyal to the LIV Golf.

Norman opened up about the American Tour on a podcast called "People I Mostly Admire," and said:

"Some of my dear friends don't even speak to me because of this (LIV). That's their choice. If you don't want to talk to me again, happy days."

LIV Golf has grabbed major attention from people around the globe. However, it got into a legal battle with the PGA Tour and apparently divided the golf fraternity into two.

PGA Tour players including Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods often talked about Greg Norman in their interviews and even claimed that he should give up on his position as the CEO of LIV Golf.

Nonetheless, Greg Norman ignored their comments and focused on making LIV Golf, a global fans' favorite series.

Norman defended the existence of the newly formed series on the podcast. He cited:

"It is one of biggest things that ever happened to the game of golf in 53 years. When you think back to the time Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus and a few others broke away from the PGA of America to start the PGA Tour. Why did they do that? They do that as players' independent rights to compete."
"So, this is no different from what we are doing today. We are just giving more competition."

LIV Golf is all set to start its second season this weekend.

"He can use some Saudi money to buy new friends" - Fans react to Greg Norman's statement

Greg Norman's statement on the PGA Tour player went viral online. NUCLR GOLF shared a post about the same on Twitter. Fans jumped into the comment section to say:

"I guess he can use some Saudi-money to buy new friends."
"Shows what friends they really were. I guess it's similar to Rory and some of his old Ryder cup "friends".
"It’s pretty pathetic from his dear friends."

Norman also opened up about Rory McIlroy in his interview. He revealed that McIlroy never sat down with him to talk about LIV Golf and understand what it is. However, Norman mentioned a top-rated PGA Tour player in his interview, who was impressed with the LIV Golf. Greg Norman said:

"I avoid mentioning this player's name but he is a top player. He won a major championship last year 2022, I just put it to you in that way and he asked me to come over to sit down to show him what the LIV products all about. He was willing to sit down and listen."
"So myself and another one of my executive went over to his house and we sat there and we taught him through a presentation and he just sat there and looked at me and said 'wow this was nothing that we were told in the locker room.' Now, he decided not to come, I respect him wholeheartedly because he understood both sites."
