The American Express 2025: Tee times and pairings for Round 1 explored

The American Express 2025 is set to tee off on Thursday, January 16. The event, one of the rare events that take place at multiple courses, will be played at La Quinta Country Club, the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West, and the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West across four days.

The newest edition of The American Express will tee off at 8:30 am Pacific time on Thursday with Max Greyserman and Kevin Streelman on the first tee at the La Quinta Country Club. Meanwhile, the pairing of Ryo Hisatsune and Matti Schmid will begin proceedings at the Nicklaus Tournament Course and the grouping of Lanto Griffin and Bud Cauley will start at the Pete Dye Stadium Course.

The American Express will have a list of stars, including Wyndham Clark, Justin Thomas, Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Jason Day, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler and Sungjae Im teeing up. Clark will begin his campaign from the La Quinta Country Club at 10:31 am, alongside Fowler. They will tee up shortly after the event favorite Thomas starts from the same tee box with Day.

Notably, The American Express’ reigning champion Nick Dunlap will also return to defend his title. The 21-year-old golfer will take the first tee at 8:41 am alongside Sam Burns. For the unversed, the competition will have a 54-hole cut instead of the traditional 36-hole cut and the final round will be played at the Stadium Course on Sunday.

The American Express 2025 will see a stacked PGA Tour player field compete for the $1.53 million winner’s paycheck from the $8.5 million purse and 500 FedEx Cup points.
