"They’re not cutting sh*t" - Phil Mickelson lashes out on grass mowers at Oakmont ahead of US Open

LIV golfer Phil Mickelson shared his frustration with grass mowers at Oakmont Country Club ahead of the 2025 US Open. The American golfer will tee off at this week's Major, which is set to begin with its first round on Thursday, June 12.

Prior to the event, Nuclr Golf shared a video of grass mowers cutting the grass at Oakmont. Also added the caption:

However, the six-time Major winner shared his take on their technique and jumped into the comment section to share his opinion. He wrote:

"They’re not working. They’re not cutting sh!t"

Phil Mickelson is seeking to win the US Open this week, the only major he hasn’t won in his well-decorated career. He finished runner-up at the Major six times in his career.

The last time the US Open was held at Oakmont was in 2016, when Dustin Johnson won the event, and Mickelson settled in a tie for second place. He has good experience playing at the venue.

So far this year in the Majors, Mickelson had a pretty tough time on the greens and missed the cut in both of the majors of 2025. It would be interesting to see how things would unfold for him at the 2025 US Open.

When will Phil Mickelson tee off at the 2025 US Open?

The 2025 US Open is officially slated to start on Thursday, June 12, at Oakmont Country Club. Phil Mickelson will tee off for the opening round of the Major on the tenth hole at 8:02 am ET in a group with former Open Championship winner Brian Harman and LIV golfer Cameron Smith. The group will tee off for the second round on Friday, June 13, at 1:47 pm ET on the first tee hole.

Rory McIlroy will be starting the game on Thursday at 7:40 am ET in a group with Justin Rose and Shane Lowry, while Hideki Matsuyama will be starting the game at 7:18 am ET with Ludvig Åberg and Adam Scott. Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau is set to tee off in a group with two-time Major winner Xander Schauffele and Jose Luis Ballester at 7:29 am ET, while Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, and Jordan Spieth will tee off together at 1:14 pm ET on Thursday.

Just a week before the US Open, Phil Mickelson competed at the LIV Golf Virginia, and he was phenomenal with his game. He started the outing with an opening round of 4-under and then played the next round of 3-under, followed by the final round of 6-under. With a total of 13-under, he settled in a tie for fourth place in the event.

Earlier this season on the Saudi circuit, he had some other impressive finishes. He was settled in solo third at the Hong Kong event and solo sixth at Miami.
