Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner tried his hand at golf on the first day of the off-season. The 23-year-old attempted to play golf in his dad's presence, who couldn't hold back a chuckle in reaction to his shot.
The World No. 1 tennis star's golfing skills are far from his prowess on the tennis court. Sinner stood on the practice range with a driver in his hand. Even though his swing looked decent, he couldn't make contact with the ball as the club remained under the ball.
The ball popped out from the tee, prompting everyone, including Jannik Sinner, to burst into laughter. Sinner's coach Darren Cahill shared this video on his Instagram story, which was later reposted by The Tennis Letter on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption:
"Jannik Sinner attempting to play golf on his first day of the off-season. His dad cracking up in the background. (via @darren_cahill)"
Fans loved watching Jannik Sinner try his hand at golf and reacted to this hilarious video by sharing their thoughts.
"Time to ask Rafa for golf lessons."
"Golfing comedy gold, won't take him long to perfect it."
A fan advised him and said he should play left-handed, and even guaranteed Jannik Sinner would be breaking 100 in a week.
"He needs to play left-handed I guarantee he will be breaking 100 in a week he’s the #1 tennis player in the world with an unbelievable backhand he shouldn’t play right-handed," a fan advised.
Another X user said golf is humbling.
"Nothing is more humbling than golf," a fan wrote.
A prominent golfing media personality, Dan Rappaport, also quoted this tweet and wrote that golf makes world-class athletes look clueless.
"Number 1 tennis player on the planet. No sport makes world-class athletes look as clueless as golf," he wrote.
"Golf is such a frustrating game," another fan said.
Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray's foray into golf after retiring from tennis
Golf is one of the most played sports across the world, especially by athletes who are into different sports. Various celebrities, including tennis stars like Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, and others, play this sport as a hobby.
Andy Murray has competed in various pro-am events like the BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour. He has a handicap of 7 and earlier in October, won the inaugural edition of BTJA Mike Dickson Golf Day, the event run by the British Tennis Journalists' Association.
Spanish tennis star, Rafael Nadal, also loves playing golf. He recently made a top-10 finish at the FGB Hexagonal Golf Circuit at the Club de Golf Son Servera in his hometown, Mallorca. Nadal finished eighth among 76 players as he carded three birdies on holes 3, 9, and 16.
