Top PGA Tour University star Ludvig Aberg holds his World No. 1 position in amateur golf despite heavy pressure 

Ludvig Aberg has maintained his position in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He is in his final year of graduation and was lucky enough to retain the top position in both the world rankings and the PGA Tour university rankings.

Aberg is currently competing in his fifth PGA Tour event at the Valspar Championship, which got underway on March 16 and will run until March 19.

He finished in the T24 position at the Arnold Palmer Invitational two weeks ago and is now looking for a win at the Valspar Championship

Ludvig Aberg finished in 58th position after the first round of the Valspar Championship. It is important to note that Adam Schenk, Ryam Brehm, and Stephen Jaeger topped the leaderboard after the opening round.

However, at the start of the second round, Adam Schenk maintained the top position while Brehm and Jaeger slipped from their positions.

A look into the career of Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg was born on October 31, 1999, in Lubbock, Texas. However, he grew up in Eslov, Sweden. Aberg started his golfing journey at the age of eight in 2007 after joining the Eslov Golf Club.

Ludvig Aberg won the Swedish Teen Tour Order of Merit in 2016 and had a successful junior golf career. He was awarded the Annika Sorenstam Trophy.

Aberg represented Sweden on different levels in amateur tournaments and won medals for his country. He served as the leader at the 2017 European Boys' Team Championship. The Swedish golfer was also part of the 2019 European Amateur Team Championship and won the medal on home soil at Ljunghusen Golf Club.

From winning the 2018 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan to winning the 2017 Fairhaven Trophy in England, Aberg added several medals to his successful amateur career.

He won the 2019 Sun Bowl Marathon All-American Golf Classic soon after finishing second at the African Amateur Stroke Play Championship.

His game was affected by the global pandemic in 2020, but Aberg managed to earn 4 OWGR points and competed at the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup, representing the international team.

Ludvig Aberg won two professional events playing on the Swedish Golf Tour while competing as an amateur. With six months remaining, he will soon start his professional journey. He is competing on the PGA Tour as an amateur alongside professional golfers.
