The US Open 2025 is set to tee off on Thursday, June 12 at Oakmont Country Club, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The third major championship of the season boasts a stacked 156-player field, headlined by World No.1 Scottie Scheffler. Unsurprisingly, the reigning PGA Championship winner is the outright favorite to take victory this weekend.

According to PGA Tour, the 28-year-old ace golfer leads the power rankings. However, he isn’t far ahead in the list. The in-form golfer, who has three wins so far this season, is closely followed by the reigning US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau. The 31-year-old LIV Golfer enters the competition as a favorite behind the ranking’s leader.

For the unversed, DeChambeau won the major last year by taking down World No.2 Rory McIlroy in a dramatic final round performance. However, he hasn’t won a major since. Having finished T5 at the Masters and coming to Oakmont off the back of a T2 at the PGA Championship, the LIV icon will be looking for a big result. It is pertinent to note that the golfer-turned YouTuber’s only two majors have come in the US Open – in 2020 and 2024.

PGA Tour ranks Sam Burns as a surprise third pick for the prestigious American major outing. The five-time PGA Tour winner comes into the US Open on the back of a playoff loss at RBC Canadian Open. He lost to Ryan Fox on Sunday despite carding a final-round 62 at TPC Toronto. It’ll be interesting to see how the 28-year-old golfer performs this weekend as his best-ever major finish came at the 2024 US Open, when he finished T9.

LIV Golf’s Jon Rahm follows the top three in PGA Tour’s power rankings. The Spaniard, who won the major in 2021, will be eyeing to better his T7-T8-T14 record from his last three majors. Notably, McIlroys sits seventh on the list behind Sepp Straka and Shane Lowry. The reigning Masters champion, who recently completed his career Grand Slam, could come in as a surprise pick to retaliate his loss from last year.
