WATCH: Rory McIlroy shows his unusual range drill

Rory McIlroy has arrived in the UAE ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. On Tuesday, November 5, he was spotted doing different range drills at the Yas Links Golf Course in preparation for the tournament.

McIlroy will be in action this week for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, the first of two DP World Tour playoffs. The event will take place from Thursday, November 7, to Sunday, November 10, with 70 top players in the Race to Dubai standings competing.

On Tuesday, the DP World Tour shared a clip where Rory McIlroy was spotted doing new drills at the Yas Links range. In the clip, the ace golfer can be seen practicing his hand movements and analyzing his swinging arc.

When will Rory McIlroy tee off at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, Day 1?

Rory McIlroy is paired with Thriston Lawrence and Rasmus Højgaard for the first two rounds of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. The trio will tee off on Thursday at 9:23 am local time from the first tee.

The 34-year-old Northern Irishman is the highest-ranked golfer in the event and is the favorite to lift the title this week. He has one win and three runner-up finishes on the DP World Tour this year and also has four runner-up finishes in Abu Dhabi over the years.

Besides McIlroy, several notable names such as Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry and Tyrrell Hatton will be in action this week in Abu Dhabi.
