Who is Beau Forest? Everything about the full-time Software engineer who qualified for PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship

Beau Forest has qualified for the upcoming Barracuda Championship. The 2024 edition will be held in parallel to the Open Championship from July 18 to 21 at the Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood course in Truckee, California.

The 26-year-old golfer qualified for the PGA Tour's event from the Barracuda's Monday qualifier. He carded 6-under 65 in 18 holes to win the spot for his first PGA Tour start. On the front nine, he got a big blow on the par-4 4th hole where he scored a double bogey. He recovered from it with birdies on the 5th, 8th and 9th holes.

On the back nine, Beau Forest scored an eagle on the par-4 11th hole, though he faltered on the 12th hole with a bogey. He scored four more birdies on the 13th, 14th, 17th, and 18th holes.

Beau Forest grew up in Redding California. He went to University Prep High School in Seattle. During his high school, Forest won the 2016 Tracy City Amateur championship in California, a competition that started in 2010. He also played basketball and led his team in scoring.

In 2016, Forest joined the University of the Pacific for his college and was inactive during his freshman year. In his sophomore year, Forest played six events for the Pacific Tigers. He averaged 75.16 in 18 rounds. In his third year, he played 10 tournaments, and in his final year, he recorded a 74.26 stroke average and was the top finisher at the Amer Ari Invitational.

He graduated with a 4.0 GPA in a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Networking and Security. He did his post-graduation from the same college in Masters of Science.

As per Beau Forest's LinkedIn, he is a software engineer at Aruba, Hewlett Packard Enterprises company. Forest is all set to make his debut on the PGA Tour at the 2024 Barracuda Championship. The winner of the tournament will take home $720,000 of the $4 million prize money doled out.
