Who is Jacob Bridgeman? 24-year-old PGA Tour rookie’s career and more explored

Jacob Bridgeman is currently on the top of the leaderboard at the 3M Open 2024. The first round of the sixth edition of the 3M Open concluded on Thursday, July 25, at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

Bridgeman carded his career's lowest score in Minnesota. He carded 63 in the first round. He scored four birdies in the front nine on the 1st, 5th, 6th, and 8th holes against a bogey on the par-4 ninth. On the back nine, he notched five birdies on the 12th, 13th, 14th, 17th and 18th holes.

Bridgeman performance in the first round comes after three missed cuts in the last three starts. Talking about it, he said (via "Washinton Post"):

"Never had struggles with my confidence until these last few weeks. I told a couple people I felt like I’ve been kicked in the face."

Jacob Bridgeman was born on December 6, 1999, in Inman, South Carolina. He went to Clemson University where he played collegiate golf.

In the freshmen year (2018-19), he tied for first place at the Puerto Rico Classic. In his sophomore year, he won the 2020 Palmetto Invitational. He defended his title the next year. He also won Camp Creek Seminole in his third year. He won two more titles in his final year, Linger Longer and ACC Tournament.

As per the Clemson Tigers website, Jacob Bridgeman finished second in the PGA University ranking and earned the Korn Ferry Tour card. He turned professional in 2022 and played 33 tournaments on the Korn Ferry Tour and made cuts in 25 of them. He had four top-5 and seven top-10 finishes on the Tour.

Jacob Bridgeman earned the PGA Tour card after finishing in the Top 30 in the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Points List. The 24-year-old has four top-25 finishes and eight missed cuts this year in 18 starts on the PGA Tour. He's 135th in the FedExCup standings. He'll be looking for his first PGA Tour and professional win at the 3M Open 2024.
