Chris Kirk's performance in the first round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship included a spectacular ace on the 205-yard, par-3 14th hole. The eagle helped Kirk finish the round with a one-stroke lead.

Kirk also had five birdies during the round. His only bogey of the day came on the 18th hole, when his tee shot landed in a bunker, leaving him with a par chance on the green. But he needed a putt of more than 30 feet, which he missed.

Number one ranked Scottie Scheffler finished tied for fifth with several players, including Xander Schauffele.

The FedEx St. Jude Championship will not feature any cuts, but only the players ranked in the FedEx Cup top 50 after the tournament will advance to next week's BMW Championship.

Those players will be guaranteed a PGA Tour card for the 2025 season, as well as a spot in the field for all Signature Events.
