Springer was particularly strong on the front nine, as he shot an 8-under 27.With this performance, Springer matched the course record at TPC Deere Run, home of the John Deere Classic since 2000. The record was set by Paul Goydos in 2010. It is also his career-low score and the 14th PGA Tour score under 60 (second of the 2024 season).Defending champion Sepp Straka finished the first round with a score of 5 under.
