Who is leading the 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier after round 1? Leaderboard explored

The first round of the 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier concluded on the Old Course on Friday, August 16. Competition was fierce with a three-way tie for first place and 16 players within three shots of the lead.

Talor Gooch carded a bogey-free first round of eagle and five birdies at the LIV Golf Greenbrier. Jason Kokrak and Sebastian Munoz each had eight birdies and one bogey.

Several bogey-free rounds were reported on Friday at the LIV Golf Greenbrier. Matt Jones, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm and Richard Bland, among others, only made birdies during the day.

Reserve player John Catlin is playing in place of Graeme McDowell at the LIV Golf Greenbrier for the Smash GCs. Catlin carded four birdies with no bogeys and is tied for 13th.

Catlin's score capped an excellent first round for the Smash GCs, with all four members of the team (Gooch, Kokrak, Koepka and Catlin) finishing in the top 13. This puts the team in first place in the tournament with 36 holes to play.

The LIV Greenbrier is the final event of the circuit's regular season. It leads to the individual and team championships.
