The third round of the 2024 Nedbank Golf Challenge was played at the Gary Player Country Club on Saturday, December 7. Once again, the wind was a major factor in the fact that only 23 players managed to break par.Local player Aldrich Potgieter is the new leader of the Nedbank Golf Challenge with a score of 7-under. Potgieter is looking to become the seventh South African to win the so-called 'African Major', and the first since Branden Grace won it in 2017.Following his performance in the third round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Potgieter highlighted how much it would mean to him to win in front of his home crowd. Here's what he had to say (via DP World Tour News Service):"It would be a dream come true. Playing in front of a home crowd, I have never played a round like this in front of a big crowd before and it’s been huge. I’ve been in this position a few times with a few people watching, but to be at home, it is very good."Aldrich Potgieter began his professional career in 2023 and played the 2024 season on the Korn Ferry Tour. He earned his PGA Tour card for the 2025 season by finishing in the top 30 on the feeder tour.Defending champion and top-ranked golfer in the field, Max Homa, carded three birdies and three bogeys in the third round. Homa is 3-under after 54 holes and remains in contention to try and regain his title.
