Mitchell carded seven birdies and no bogeys on Saturday to finish 7-under.Mitchell had never made the cut at the Country Club of Jackson in his four previous starts. He is now the leader with 18 holes to play and could win his second PGA Tour title, more than five years after his first (2019 Honda Classic, now the Cognizant Classic).Beau Hossler carded six birdies in the third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship, but a double bogey on the 12th hole cost him the tournament lead. Hossler is seeking his first PGA Tour victory in his 200th career start. Both Mitchell and Hossler are threatening to equal or break the event's 24-under par record, held by Scott Stallings since he won in 2012. Also under threat is the total record of 263 set by Dan Halldorson in 1986, which Mitchell could equal with a 67 on Sunday.
