Scheffler recorded the best score of the round, a 6-under par. His performance included seven birdies, five of which came on the back nine. His only bogey of the round came on the 1st hole. The 28-year-old's putting was particularly effective during the first round of the TOUR Championship. He recorded a stroke gained: Putting of 1.434, which tied for 5th in the tournament.
