However, he saw his seven-shot lead dwindle due to the stellar performances of his main rivals."I got off to a better start than yesterday, so it was good. Yeah, played another what I felt like was a pretty solid round of golf. Hitting a lot of fairways and a lot of greens," Scottie Scheffler said (via ASAP Sports)."I feel like my swing is in a good spot," he added. "I've hit it nice last couple days. Really felt like I've hit a lot of lips on the greens, but hitting a lot quality putts."Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele carded the two best rounds of the day, in that order. Morikawa carded nine birdies and one bogey (8 under 63) while Schauffele had seven birdies and no bogeys (7 under 64).Morikawa's score is the best of the 2024 TOUR Championship so far, allowing him to stay within four strokes of Scheffler.Two players made significant moves up the event's leaderboard during the round — Sahith Theegala and Tony Finau. Theegala carded a 5-under round to move up five places to T4, while Finau also carded a 5-under round to move up 12 places to T8.Defending champion Viktor Hovland is tied for 25th place at 4-under. Hovland dropped five places from the first round as he shot even par on Friday.
