Who is leading the Sony Open in Hawaii after Day 2? Leaderboard explored

The second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii ended with a three-way tie for the lead. Austin Eckroat, Byeong-Hun An, and Carl Yuan shared the 36-hole lead at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. Yuan posted a 5-under 65 on Friday to take the lead. Eckroat shot a 66 and Byeong-Hun carded a 64 to join the Chinese golfer in the three-way lead.

Day 1 leader Cam Davis settled one shot behind the leaders. He shared T4 with nine other golfers including Taylor Montgomery, Stewart Cink, Kurt Kitayama, and last week’s The Sentry winner, Chris Kirk.

Sony Open in Hawaii defending champion Si Woo Kim failed to capitalize on Round 2. The South Korean golfer settled for T26 alongside Alex Noren, Tyrrell Hatton, Russell Henley, Webb Simpson, and Ludvig Aberg, among others.

Notably, World No.8 Matt Fitzpatrick, The Sentry runner-up Sahith Theegala, Ryder Cup skipper Zach Johnson, and PGA Tour stars Lucas Glover and Kevin Kisner, all failed to make the 36-hole cut. Gary Woodland and Will Zalatoris, making their comebacks after injuries, also crashed out of the event on Friday.

With half the Sony Open field out of the competition, it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top on Sunday.
