Lee Chieh-po fired a 7-under 64 in the third round of the LIV Golf Promotions to lead the race for a LIV Golf card. The Chinese Taipei golfer holds a two-stroke lead over the field heading into the final stage of the event.On Saturday, December 14, Chieh-po entered the final 36-hole shootout of the LIV Golf Promotions after shooting a 67 on Day 2. In the third round, he had a moderate start with a birdie and a bogey. He made another birdie on the seventh hole before embarking on a four-hole birdie stretch from holes 9-12. He added three more birdies before closing with a bogey on the final hole.Lee Chieh-po was born on November 1, 1994, and grew up playing golf with Kevin Yu. Although Yu is four years younger than him, Chieh-po sees him as an inspiration, as Yu recently won on the PGA Tour. Besides Yu, Chieh-po is also a good friend of Chan Shih-chang, a six-time winner on the Asian Tour.Also known as Max, Lee enjoyed some success as an amateur before turning professional in 2015. However, he remained winless and continued grinding on the Asian Tour for nearly a decade without competing in a single PGA Tour event.Despite this, Lee Chieh-po came close to winning several times early in his career. In 2015, he tied for third at the Resorts World Manila Masters. In 2021, he won the Yeangder TPC, but it was part of the local tour at the time.A couple of months ago, Chieh-po claimed his first-ever Asian Tour win at the International Series Thailand. He edged out Richard Lee by one stroke to secure his maiden title in his 80th start.So far, Lee Chieh-po has recorded sixteen top-ten finishes in 83 starts on the Asian Tour. Apart from his lone win, he has achieved seven top-ten finishes, including a couple of runner-up finishes.
