Why was play in Round 3 suspended at LIV Golf Virginia?

LIV Golf Virginia is currently underway at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. After 36 holes, Anirban Lahiri was leading the the golf tournament. As the final round was in play, the tournament had to be suspended after a major setback.

Round 3 was supposed to start from 8.16 am EST, and several players even started their rounds. Phil Mickelson, one of the prominent LIV faces quickly climbed up the leaderboard at T2. Paired alongside Lefty for the final round are Bryson DeChambeau and Carlos Ortiz. However, in the middle of the final round, play had to be suspended due to unexpected weather conditions.

As per tournament officials, extreme weather conditions affected the conditions of play. Due to that reason, the third round of LIV Golf Virginia was suspended from 11.07 am EST. Considering the safety of players, spectators and everyone present at Robert Trent Golf Course, officials had to suspend play for close to an hour.

"Play has been temporarily suspended in Rd. 3 #LIVGolf Virginia presented by Maaden at 11:07 am ET due to severe weather."

Weather conditions indicated that there would be humid conditions alongside possible rain at the Virginia golf course. As of this writing, play is back underway with Graeme McDowell in the lead at 13-under.
