Xander Schauffele inches closer to No.1 spot after beating Scottie Scheffler at the FedEx St.Jude Championship

Xander Schauffele is edging closer to overtaking Scottie Scheffler for the No. 1 spot in the FedEx Cup standings following a strong performance at the recently concluded FedEx St. Jude Championship. Schauffele finished ahead of Scheffler on the leaderboard, tying for second place, while the latter secured solo fourth at the St Jude. With this result, Schauffele remains the only golfer in contention to surpass Scheffler in the FedEx Cup standings before the Tour Championship.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs winner is awarded 2,000 points, and after the St. Jude Championship, Schauffele sits in second place with 5,037 points, trailing Scheffler by 1,495 points. A victory at the upcoming BMW Championship could see Schauffele surpass Scheffler in the standings.

Xander Schauffele had an impressive outing at the St. Jude Championship, shooting a 63 in the final round to finish just two strokes behind Hideki Matsuyama, tying with Viktor Hovland. Meanwhile, Scheffler, who had a strong start, struggled in the final two rounds and finished solo fourth, just one stroke behind Schauffele.
