Zurich Classic past winners: List of past 10 years champions explored ahead of 2024 tournament

The Zurich Classic is one of the oldest tournaments in golf, having first been played in 1938. It has been held annually since 1956. In 2017, the Classic moved to a team event, with 80 pairs making up the field. One member of each team is initially chosen based on the Tour priority rankings, and the partner must either be a Tour member or get an exemption.

It's one of the sport's most unique tournaments, and it always has fun competition that is made more unique by the team format that is otherwise largely missing from golf.

In the last 10 years, there have been some tight contests. In 2013, before it became a group contest, Billy Horschel took the crown by one stroke over D.A. Points. Horschel was -20 for the event.

The following year, Noh Seung-yul was two strokes clear of both Robert Streb and Andrew Svoboda. In 2015, Justin Rose defeated Cameron Tringale by one stroke after shooting 22 under.

In 2016, the final year of solo play, Brian Stuard emerged victorious. He shot 15 under but had to go to a playoff to defeat both Byeong-Hun An and Jamie Lovemark.

In 2017, with group play officially part of the tournament, Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith shot 27 under, but they also needed a playoff to defeat Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown.

The next year, Billy Horschel won again, this time partnered with Scott Piercy. They topped Jason Dufner and Pat Perez by one stroke. 2019's victors were Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer, who won by three strokes over Tommy Fleetwood and Sergio Garcia.

The Zurich Classic was not played in 2020 due to COVID-19. When it resumed in 2021, Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith, for the second time, emerged victorious over Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel in a playoff.

Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele won the tournament in 2022. After shooting 29 under, they were two strokes clear of Sam Burns and Billy Horschel, who was bidding for his third win in the event.

Finally, last year's victors were Nick Hardy and Davis Riley, who shot a record 30 under par. They were two strokes clear of Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor.
