Players get in one last day of practice ahead of the 113th U.S. Open and Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, USA, on Thursday.
Ian Poulter:“Well I mean I’ve played eleven, I’ve played ten holes so far. I think, obviously the front nine, various holes are very difficult. The long are very, very long; and the short, short. So, you know, get your rest spots on those short holes and you kind of got to hang in there on the tough holes, play smart. Try and make pars, if you’ve got an opportunity for birdie, see if you can make it, you know. If you can’t make par, then just make bogey and get out of there and try and recover on those short holes which gives you the opportunities to make some birdies.”
“Yeah, I mean of late, you know, the last couple months I haven’t been happy at all, but the good is really, really good. I need to manage the bad right now and if I manage the bad very well, then, I’m going to shoot some good scores.”
Paul Lawrie:“I don’t think so, no matter which US Open you play, it’s pretty much set up the same way whichever course you play. The rough’s pretty thick, the fairways are narrow. They want level par to win. You know, it’s how it is, no matter which course they play, it always seems to be the same.”
Matteo Manassero:“I’m obviously in a good moment. You never know what’s going to happen at the beginning of the week so all you can do is just go on the tee Thursday morning and try to do your best. Because I’m in a confident moment right now I can do my best so we’ll see what’s going to happen. It’s hard to tell. I like this course so I can definitely perform well this week. We’ll see what’s going to happen. It’s really hard to say when you’ve got such a great field and so many strong guys that really want to win this week.”
