WATCH: Nelly Korda quadruple bogey's 16th hole during round 2 of the Paris Olympics as her day turns into disaster

Nelly Korda is seeking to defend her gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics this week. Despite a decent opening-round score of even par 72, her second-round performance has left her in a tricky spot that requires some of her best golf to come through the next two days to earn a spot on the podium.

Having begun the second round tied for 13th place, Korda had a stellar start to the day. A bogey-free front nine that comprised of four birdies put her four under par through the first half. Unfortunately, the back nine of the challenging Le Golf National course proved to be a challenge for the World No. 1 golfer.

After birdies on the 11th and 15th holes, Korda claimed the second spot on the leaderboard. However, a disastrous par three 16th hole cost her the spot and led her to fall drastically in the rankings. The 129-yard-long hole saw the LPGA Tour star's tee shot find the water hazard right in front of the green.

Korda decided against re-teeing the ball and proceeded to play her third shot from the drop zone, which failed to find the green. She went on to card in a quadruple-bogey 7 on the hole, leaving her tied for 12th place.
