The cut line is projected at 2 under and will be surpassed by the best 65 players (plus ties). It is expected that around 70 of the Andalucia Masters participants will make the cut and play the weekend.

Although the second round has not yet finished, several top players are below the projected cut line. They include locals Alfredo Garcia-Heredia and Pablo Larrazabal, as well as Danish PGA Tour player Nicolai Hojgaard.

The leader of the field, Jon Rahm, will have no problem making the cut. The Spaniard has started the second round at full speed and has a score of 4 under through 7 on Friday. His score for the event is 6 under and he has climbed 26 places to T13.

Among the players tied with Rahm is another favorite, Rasmus Hojgaard. The Dane did not have a good second round (1 under through 7), but his 6 under score will allow him to comfortably make the cut.

The leader of the players seeking a PGA Tour card, Thriston Lawrence, is 4 under on the 6th hole of the second round of the Andalucia Masters thanks to a birdie with no bogeys.

Andalucia Masters: First two rounds' highlights

Among the most remarkable things to happen so far at the 2024 Andalucia Masters was Julien Guerrier's 10-under 62 to take the lead after the second round. The Frenchman carded 10 birdies without a bogey.

Another Frenchman, Ugo Coussaud, also stood out in the first round. Coussaud got an ace on the par-3, 178-yard 8th hole, which earned him his weight in Estrella Damm beer (10 12-packs) as a prize.

During the second round, a remarkable event occurred when the group of Jon Rahm, Angel Hidalgo and Rasmus Hojgaard were playing the 7th hole. All three players attempted putts over 20 feet and all three made them (Hidalgo 30 feet, Rahm 29 feet and Hojgaard 21 feet).

Spain's Jorge Campillo had the best score of the second round so far at 7 under with an eagle and five birdies without a bogey. Campillo has had two bogey-free rounds, which has put him temporarily in the lead.

Campillo's lead has been as high as five strokes. If he wins the tournament, he will be the third Spaniard to do so after Sergio Garcia (2011, 2017, 2018) and Adrian Otaegui (2022).

If Campillo or another Spaniard wins, the two 2024 DP World Tour events in Spain would have been won by local players. This already happened in 2022 (Rahm at the Open de España and Otaegui at the Andalucia Masters) and 2018 (Rahm at the Open de España and Garcia at the Andalucia Masters).
