Frankie Capan III was born in Stillwater, Minnesota on November 9, 1999. The 24-year-old impressed the golf world as he finished second at the Korn Ferry Tour's Visit Knoxville Open 2024 after losing a playoff.

Following two top 10 finishes in his last 3 starts on the Korn Ferry Tour and a new course record of 58 set at the 2024 Veritex Bank Championship, here are five facts to know about Frankie Capan III.

#1 Capan III always uses the same marker

Frankie Capan III has always used the same marker for all his rounds. He uses a quarter from 1967 to mark his ball in honor of his father. The star golfer's father, Frank Jr., was born in 1967.

Capan III not only uses the same marker, but he only uses it with the tails side of the coin facing upward. He told the PGA Tour that the reason behind this is because "tails never fails."

His earliest memory of the sport is at the Troy Burne Golf Club in Wisconsin where he was putting with his father. He was just two years old at the time.

#2 He once served Jon Rahm as a valet driver

Prior to playing for the University of Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast University, Frankie Capan III attended Northwest Christian High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

During his junior year of high school, Capan III had injured his hip and was out of the game for six months. While he was in recovery, he worked at the Silverleaf Golf Club as a valet driver.

Capan III revealed in a press conference at the 2023 3M Open (21:20:00 - 21:53:00), that he had valeted Adam Hadwin and LIV Golf star Jon Rahm's car.


#3 He has played in only 3 PGA Tour events in his career

Frankie Capan III currently plays on the PGA Tour's Korn Ferry Tour. However, he played his first PGA Tour event at the 2016 Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach where he played as an amateur and missed the cut.

In the 2022 - 2023 season, Capan III played two PGA Tour events. He played the 2023 U.S. Open and missed the cut. However, he made the cut at the 2023 3M Open and finished the event tied for 62nd with a total score of four under par.

Capan III also played the Korn Ferry Tour's PGA Tour Q-School, an unofficial PGA Tour event, later that year where he settled for a tied for 64th place finish with a total score of two over par.

#4 He ranks 172nd on the Official World Golf Rankings

Frankie Capan III turned professional in 2022 and has since played in 35 events. He currently ranks 172nd on the Official World Golf Rankings, his best-ever ranking. Capan III has earned 28.30306 points.

His recent runner-up finish at the Korn Ferry Tour's 2024 Visit Knoxville Open earned him 8.45507 points. This finish moved him from 251st on the rankings to 172nd.

#5 He volunteers for the HopeKids organization

Frankie Capan III volunteers for the HopeKids organization. The organization aims to help children who suffer from medical illnesses. They support the kids, families, and communities financially and emotionally.

He also served volunteer hours during his time with Florida Gulf Coast University. FGCU aims to host events twice a year to aid the Harry Chapin Food Bank and raise awareness of student-athlete mental health.
