Keith Mitchell is going steady after two rounds at the Genesis Invitational. He is giving Jon Rahm and Max Homa a hard fight and is ahead of the likes of Rory McIlroy and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He shot a second round of 2-under 69 to tie for second place alongside Rahm and Lee Hodges, sitting one stroke behind Homa so far.

Keith Mitchell scored five birdies with three bogeys in the second round. His first round was comparatively better as the 31-year-old had shot a score of 7-under 64 on Thursday. He is still pretty much in the race for the title and will be hoping to win his second title on the PGA Tour.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 7, 1992, Keith Mitchell was introduced to golf by his father, Jerry. He also has a sister named Brindley. He attended the University of Georgia from 2011 to 2014, where he pursued a major in Business and Real Estate while also playing college golf. He earned All-America honors in 2012.

Initially, Mitchell played on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica in 2015 finishing five times in the top 10. His best finish came at the Brazil Open, where he ended up as a runner-up. He then played on the Korn Ferry Tour, earning his TOUR card for the 2017-18 season. His third-place finish at the 2017 News Sentinel Open was his best finish of the year. He also finished T-11 at the Valspar Championship in 2017, a PGA event.

Mitchell finally found success on the PGA Tour in 2019 when he won the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, beating the likes of Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka by a one-stroke margin. He holed a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole to avoid the playoffs with the two. It was a special win for Mitchell as he had only made one cut in the last four events before the Honda Classic.

Mitchell is currently No. 56 in the OWGR.

Mitchell made five birdies but three bogeys meant he had to settle at one stroke behind Max Homa after two days of gameplay at the Genesis Invitational. Mitchell was also in contention at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am a few weeks ago, where he finished at T-4.

Max Homa is leading after two rounds at his hometown PGA Tour event. He scored in the second round of 3-under 68 to take a single-stroke lead over Jon Rahm, Keith Mitchell, and Lee Hodges at The Genesis Invitational.

"Yeah, it's exciting -- 36-hole leads are awesome," said Homa in his poat round interview. "Like I said, there's a long way to go, but regardless, I can rest on the fact I'm playing great golf and I'm just going to try and do that for two more days."

Veteran Tiger Woods had a sloppy finish in the second round. With three bogeys in the last four holes, he scored 3-over 74 on Friday. He will most likely make the cut on Saturday morning after the game was suspended due to bad light.
