Korton, who is a native of Yankton, South Dakota, has been serving as a head coach for Texas A&M University for the past three years now. He started as an assistant coach for the men's golf program in 2013 and has made his way to the top.

The Aggies qualified for two NCAA Regionals, participated in the 2022 NCAA Championship, and twice reached the semifinals of the SEC Championship in his first two seasons as head coach. In that time, he has also led the Maroon & White to five tournament victories.

Who is Sam Bennett?

Born on December 21, 1999, in Madisonville, Texas, Sam Bennett is an amateur golfer for the team of Texas A&M University. In 2007, while attending Madisonville High School, he was a state-level golf champion.

Bennett joined Texas A&M in 2018. Since then, he has been making his way to the top with spectacular performances. In 2021, he was announced as the SEC Player of the Year. Later on, in 2021, he was invited to his first PGA Tour event at the Valero Texas Open, where he missed out on making the cut.

In 2022, he was selected to participate in the U.S. Amateur. He won the tournament by beating Ben Carr, who was world no. 1 back then in the Official World Amateur Rankings. This win helped him qualify for the U.S. Open 2022, and he made the cut to finish at the T49 position.

Sam Bennett is currently playing in the Masters 2023 competition. He is having a miraculous run at the Augusta National Golf Club.
