College Football Playoff Rankings for Week 14

Clemson v South Carolina
Clemson head coach Dabo Sweeny is proving to be one of the elite coaches in the FBS.

Heading into the Conference Championship Games and the final rankings and pairings for the College Football Playoff on Monday, these teams will be trying to solidify their spots in the playoffs. These teams (except for Alabama) would need to go through their final tests in their respective conference's title games. Here are the Top Six and what they would need to do to make sure to get their spot in the College Football Playoff.

1) Clemson Tigers (11-1) vs Miami FL in ACC Championship Game

The Tigers are heading into their chance to become back-to-back champions with a win over arch-rivals South Carolina in their tune-up for the ACC Title Game against the Hurricanes. Clemson can boast to be one of the best programs if they are able to win the national championship for the second year in a row, this time round.

2) Auburn Tigers (10-2)

vs Georgia in SEC Championship Game

Alabama v Auburn
Any time Auburn defeats Alabama in football is called for a huge celebration on Auburn University's campus.

After defeating Alabama in the Iron Bowl, Auburn would try to repeat their win against Georgia from earlier this season and advance to the College Football Playoff. They can help their own cause with their schedule and their win against the Tide. Their confidence can be held after beating the then-#1 Tide and facing a rematch against the Bulldogs, a team that they have already beaten during conference play.

3) Oklahoma Sooners (11-1) vs TCU in Big 12 Championship Game

West Virginia v Oklahoma
Heisman Trophy contender Baker Mayfield (6) leads Oklahoma into the renewed Big 12 Championship Game.

The Sooners are attempting their first college football playoff appearance since 2015, a loss to Clemson. Oklahoma will be playing in the first Big 12 Championship Game since it was re-instated as the top two teams in the conference face off in the game. The last Big 12 Championship Game was in 2010 when Oklahoma defeated Nebraska. Since then, Nebraska left for the Big Ten, Missouri and Texas A & M left for the SEC, Colorado went to the Pac-12 and TCU and West Virginia entered the conference. Oklahoma had defeated TCU earlier this season, 38-20 at home.

4) Wisconsin Badgers (12-0) vs Ohio State in Big Ten Championship Game

Wisconsin v Minnesota
Wisconsin winning Paul Bunyan's Axe after beating Minnesota this week to finish the regular season 12-0.

The Badgers are eager to cap off their first ever 12-0 campaign in school history with a national championship. Currently one of only two undefeated teams remaining in the season, with Central Florida being the other, the Badgers are proving that the Big Ten can continue to be a powerhouse.

5) Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) Bowl or playoff game

Alabama v Auburn
Alabama head coach Nick Saban hoping that this year's College Football Playoff will the very first year without Alabama.

The Tide, coming off a huge loss to Auburn, would like to see some dominoes fall in their favor as the only team in this group of six to not play in a conference title game. They would need a lot of help in avoiding missing the College Football Playoff for the first time. Alabama is currently the only school to advance to every College Football Playoff since its inception in 2014. They have been to the last 2 national championship games, beating Clemson in 2015 and losing to the same team in 2016.

6) Georgia Bulldogs (11-1) vs Auburn in SEC Championship Game

Georgia v Georgia Tech
Georgia preparing for Auburn in the SEC Championship Game after beating Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs are bouncing back after an earlier loss to Auburn, their conference title game opponents. Their revenge would be sweet if they are able to knock off the Tigers, Clemson loses to Miami, Oklahoma loses to TCU and Wisconsin loses to Ohio State. That would be a lot of help for themselves.
