Three things to take away from week four of Fantasy Football

Peyton Manning

Week four of Fantasy Football is officially over. The week was a strange one. Despite the twists and turns, there are three big things that you can use to improve your game for week five.

Even after injuries piled up and top performers gave only mixed results, the game is still hurtling forward at an awesome pace.

The biggest news this week is that Todd Gurley is worth your time and effort. Although he was not a certain choice only a few weeks ago, Gurley now has a hype that is worth buying in on.

Gurley spent the first few weeks out with an injury. When he did arrive on the field in week three, his performance was not impressive. The nine yards he accomplished that week did not do him any favors. But his 146 yards in week four proved that he is the player that you have heard about. He just needed a week to remember that.

Week four also warranted another reminder that Peyton Manning cannot be trusted. His performances thus far have not been disappointing. But Manning has not proven his worth as a starting player for the rest of the season.

He has dropped a few too many interceptions this year and it is beginning to show in his Fantasy points. At the end of week four, Manning only walked away with 10 points.

It is also worth noting that Manning’s arm is starting to look sketchy. He has the sixth lowest successful passing rate out of the 31 qualified passers in the league. This is not a reason to toss him aside. But you should think carefully before considering him a top starter for the rest of the season.

Finally, you must not write off the Chicago Bears. The loss of Cutler in the second week was hard on the team’s offense. However, Cutler is back on the field and the team is looking better for it.

This week, the Bears managed to squeak by with a win against the Oakland Raiders. This win might be attributed to Cutler, who is recognized as a tough player.

Cutler’s return does not mean that the Bears have morphed into a real threat. However, it is worth noting that the team is competent as week five begins.

As the new week begins let’s hope that this week’s starters deliver more good surprises than bad ones.
