London - Croatia’s men beat Hungary 33-26 Sunday to win their first Olympic handball medal, a bronze.
The Croatians dominated from the start, finishing the first half with a 19-14 lead.
“It is a big thing for our small country and we are proud,” Croatia’s Mirko Alilovic said.
Ivan Cupic was the top scorer with eight goals for Croatia, while Gergely Harsanyi scored seven for the Hungarians.
Croatia’s men also played in the bronze medal match in Beijing four years ago, losing 29-35 to Spain.
Sweden and France will fight for the gold later on Sunday.
