Starting today, we will be giving you some of the best exercises aimed at training different parts of the body. We start the series with the Arnold Press – a brilliant exercise for those shoulders.

Arnold Press

The Arnold Press, famously named after Arnold Schwarzenegger who came up with it, is a good exercise for a complete shoulder workout and resembles other press exercises.

You start off movement by bringing your elbows out to the sides. While continuing to raise your elbows outward, press the dumbbells overhead until the arms are straight. Slowly lower it to the front of shoulders in opposite pattern and repeat.

Ad

Movement should emphasize shoulder abduction while minimizing forearm pronation as this exercise attempts to combine a lateral raise like motion with the shoulder press. You should lean forward slightly when lifting Dumbbells.

Don’t (s)

Do not arch your back or wiggle your body to help you lift the barbell

Do not lock your elbows or allow the barbell to sway back and forth during the movement

Tips:

You can perform the Arnold press while sitting or standing.

If you have a problem balancing, then you can sit instead of standing, which should make things easier.
