David Bass sustains fractured cheekbone in Ascot fall

Jockey David Bass is to spend "a few weeks" on the sidelines after fracturing his cheekbone in a fall at Ascot on Saturday.

Bass was riding Dueling Banjos for his boss Kim Bailey in a three-mile novice handicap chase when he crashed out at the first fence.

"David Bass looks like spending a few weeks on the easy list after a fall on Dueling Banjos on Saturday at Ascot," Bailey wrote on his blog on his website, www.kimbaileyracing.com.

"Sadly, one of the horses who were involved in the pile-up trod on David's face and left him with a nasty cut and multiple fractures in his cheekbone.

"We wish him a speedy recovery and for all the banter we have here, we will miss him hugely."

Bass joins his ally Barters Hill on the sidelines and will miss the upcoming mounts on Bailey's stable stars The Last Samuri and Charbel in the coming weeks.
