Dodging Bullets could return in Peterborough Chase

Paul Nicholls suspects Dodging Bullets may have been suffering from mild colic at Ascot on Saturday. The former champion chaser was pulled up at halfway by Nick Scholfield after failing to travel with his usual zest.

Nothing untoward has been found since and his next start could come at Huntingdon in the Peterborough Chase.

Nicholls said: "As a young horse he used to get stressed going to the races. He has been superb ever since and that is why he has got better and better.

"On Saturday though, when he got to the races he got himself into a right tizz and we don't know why.

"Whatever it was he got over it and we just said to Nick (Scholfield) if you are not happy just look after him. Nick said he was not travelling and quite rightly pulled him up.

"He got home that night, ate up and has been walking around this morning, so I don't know what was troubling him.

"He has got no injuries at all. The vet is going to have a look at him tomorrow. He could have been having a bit of colic, but something was obviously troubling him.

"I don't see that he needs a break as he was ready to run for his life on Saturday. I suppose if he is all right and we don't find anything wrong with him and we are happy with him, we could look at the Peterborough Chase.

"I think you can put a line through Saturday. I suspect he was suffering from some mild form of colic, which is always hard to pick up and is something they can't tell you they have."
