Alpha Des Obeaux is likely to step up to Grade One level for the first time over fences in the Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse next month.

Runner-up to the mighty Thistlecrack in last season's World Hurdle at Cheltenham, the Mouse Morris-trained six-year-old made a successful start to his chasing career at Thurles in October before beating subsequent winner Westerner Lady in a Grade Three at Cork earlier this month.

Owners Gigginstown House Stud have a plethora of entries in the Drinmore on December 4 and Morris is hoping his stable star will be among the runners.

He said: "He's in good form and, all going well, I think he'll go for the Drinmore.

"They (Gigginstown) have some very good novices this year, so it will be hard to keep them all apart.

"But with a bit of luck, I'd say we'll go to Fairyhouse."

Alpha Des Obeaux is a general 6-1 shot about winning the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
