All India Invitational: Shillong Lajong FC clinch title

Shillong Lajong FC edged past OIL India FC by a solitary goal to clinch the title in the All India Invitational Prize Money Football tournament at Golaghat.

Both the teams showcased brilliant football and won the hearts of the full capacity crowd. There were around 10,000 fans in the stadium. Specially, young stars of Lajong academy showed some excellent tactics and skills against a seasoned Oil India FC.

The only goal of the match came from the boot of Bipin Singh. At the 85th minute of the match, he scored from the edge of the box and ensured the title for Lajong.

Winners Lajong pocketed Rs. 30,000 as prize money and runners-up OIL India FC pocketed Rs. 20,000. F. Wary of OIL was awarded best player of the tournament.

In the the prize distribution ceremony, ONGC’S Assam Assets chairman declared that from next year, ONGC will sponsor the tournament.
