Brandon Fernandes’ trial at Leicester City ends, no offer yet

Brandon’s trial at Leicester City is over

The much-talked about trial of Brandon Fernandes at English Championship outfit Leicester City ended on Saturday and it seems the Foxes are not keen on making an offer for the teenager as his father Jaju informed Sportskeeda on Sunday that his son is returning to ASD Cape Town, his representatives.

After a two-week trial at English Premier League club Reading FC, Brandon earned a two-week trial with Leicester City. But Leicester extended Brandon’s trial by a week and the 18-year-old was hopeful of a decision from them by Saturday. The India youth international was training with Leicester’s Under-21 developmental side.

However Leicester haven’t released any official statement yet unlike Reading, whose football director Nick Hammond praised Brandon and promised to monitor his progress.

“His trial is over and at the moment no (it doesn’t look like Leicester will make an offer). But he is returning to South Africa today and ASD Cape Town are expected to give an official statement about his future plans on Monday,” Jaju told Sportskeeda.

It remains to be seen whether the former Salgaocar youngster, whose playing style is believed to be like Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez, gets a similar trial in any other foreign club while many Indian football fans would still hope that like Reading, Leicester keeps an eye on Brandon’s progress and gives him another chance to prove his talents in the near future.
