This pressing strategy was seen in full flow against Odisha FC in the last game and FC Goa used it to great effect against Chennaiyin FC too. While fingers will be rightly pointed at the Chennaiyin FC defenders for their individual mistakes, FC Goa too should be credited because they have worked very hard whenever the ball hasn't been with them.

The best way to understand this would be to look at Goa's first two goals. When full-back Tondonba Singh had the ball on the left-flank, Jackichand Singh and Ferran Corominas started to close him down very quickly. Under pressure, the inexperienced Tondonba lost his head and meekly gave the ball to Coro.

For the second goal, once midfielder Germanpreet Singh played a questionable back-pass to Lucian Goian, Brandon Fernandes was quickly snapping at the heels of the opposition skipper which resulted in him eventually losing the ball in a treacherous position. This proved to be vital because FC Goa were finding it difficult to break down Chennaiyin FC's defense through the middle or even the wings.

On a day when FC Goa couldn't apply their philosophy of holding onto the ball in any kind of scenario, they switched on their poaching instincts to post the team's fourth consecutive win.
