With the gentleman’s game in its grasp, STAR India has now turned its attention to football. The broadcaster has picked up a one-third stake in a company jointly owned by Reliance Industries and IMG, and is set to launch an IPL-style football tournament. STAR India is paying 2,000 crore rupees in a deal that includes equity and broadcast rights for 10 years. Here’s CEO Uday Shankar take on it.
