Dempo SC sign Liberian midfielder John D. Menyongar on loan

I-League champions Dempo SC have signed Liberian midfielder John D. Menyongar on loan from Shillong Lajong FC for the remainder of the season in place of Englishman Rohan Ricketts, who had been released after problems to adopt to Indian conditions and the ex-EPL players Twitter rant against coach Armando Colaco. The 32 year old Menyongar, a former Liberian national team captain, had been released by Lajong FC after problems with coach Desmond Bulpin and him not willing to be on the bench as the fourth foreign signing as well as training disputes.

Menyongar has been in India for nearly two years, first with United Sikkim FC and then since mid-2011 with Shillong Lajong FC. Now he joins the champions. Johnny, as he is called by friends, has been training with Dempo’s for a while and now the Goans decided to take him on board, while releasing Rohan Ricketts.

Meanwhile, there seems to be no future for defender Stephen Offei at Dempo SC with the Ghanian still not registered for the I-League, only playing in the Goa Pro League and he is set to be released when the International Transfer Window opens.
