India have moved up six places to 148 in the FIFA Rankings according to the latest release, which came out on Thursday. India also moved up one spot to 27th in the Asian Rankings.

The SAFF Championship 2013 runners-up were in action on both the FIFA matchdays this month as they held higher ranked Philippines to a 1-1 draw and then defeated Nepal 2-0 with both the matches taking place at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri.

The win over Nepal was India’s first victory in international friendlies under Wim Koevermans and the Dutchman is eager to play in the next FIFA match date which is scheduled for March 5 2014.

India remain the second highest nation in South Asia behind SAFF 2013 winners Afghanistan, who are 129th now. The next release of the FIFA Rankings is scheduled for December 19.
