A FIFA women’s delegation will be visiting the state of Manipur on Thursday, December 13. Part of the delegation are FIFA Consultant on Women Football Monica Stabb of Germany, FIFA Development Officer Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran and AIFF Director of National Teams Shubhankar Mukherjee.
The aim of the trip to the North-eastern state is to get a first hand account on women’s football played in Manipur, which is at the forefront of women’s football in India.
Monica Staab is best known for having been the coach of German side 1.FFC Frankfurt from 1993 to 2004. With the club she won the 2002 UEFA Women’s Cup, the German Women’s Bundesliga in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003, and the German Cup in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
On the proposal of the visiting FIFA delegation, the All Manipur Football Association is organising a match between the senior women’s teams of the Imphal West District Football Association and the Imphal East District Football Association.
The exhibition match will be played at the Mapal Kangjeibung in Imphal at 2 pm on Thursday, December 13.
