FIFA World Rankings: INDIA lose a spot, is now 159th!

The Indian football team goes further down the rankings.

The world football governing body FIFA released the latest FIFA World Rankings earlier today in which India lost one spot to be joint 159th amongst the 209 ranked nations and territories, while within Asia India remain 30th amongst 46 nations in the rankings. India is joint 159th with Puerto Rico behind Malta, but ahead of Singapore on 119 points, two points more than last month.

Amongst the South Asian nations India are in the third spot behind Afghanistan (134th) and the Maldives (142nd), but stay ahead of Sri Lanka (174th), Bangladesh (176th), Nepal (179th), Pakistan (182th) and Bhutan (208th).

India played an international friendly earlier this month against Palestine, which Team India lost 2-3 to Palestine in Siliguri, but in the next few months no international friendlies are planned.

Meanwhile, there were one change amongst the top five of the FIFA World Rankings. World champions Germany (1,669 points) stay ahead of Argentina (1,565) and Colombia (1,420); while Belgium (1,388) gain a spot to move ahead of neighbours the Netherlands (1,375) to complete the top five.
