In a release, Trebol Sports announced the signings of Duach “The Tower” Jock and Aman Talantbekov by I-League club Chennai City FC for the remainder of the season.

Duach, who is set to become the tallest player in I-League history at 1.98m, was thrilled at the prospect of his playing his football in Asia.

“I am very excited to start this new journey in my career. To be honest, I felt a little nervous initially when our intermediary, Trebol Sports International, informed me of this opportunity but then again, I have always like adventures and challenges. India is a beautiful country with rising standards of football. I want to take up this challenge and be part of this growing phenomenon.”

Aman, who was capped by Kyrgyzstan at the U-20 and U-23 levels, will join his compatriot and defensive lynchpin, Veniamin Shumeiko in Chennai City FC.

“Talgat Bektur (Churchill Brothers) and Veniamin have told me a lot about Indian football. I was curious and wanted to experience the standard of football myself. I don’t know much about Chennai as a city but the fans can be assured that I will give my very best on the pitch. I will also spend the time to understand and learn about its culture and heritage.”

South Sudan international, Duach hopes that his towering presence will help to solidify the defence and if need be, chip in with some important goals. He recognizes the fact that the club has to win all their remaining home games to stand a realistic chance of finishing in the top four and qualify for the Super Cup.

“I have heard that the Chennai City fans are a passionate lot so we can only repay their faith by winning. Without them, we are nobodies. Hence, I just want to win games, climb up the table and keep the fans happy. I hope they will come in droves to support us in the final run in.”

The 25-year-old Aman shares the same sentiments. He hopes that he will be able to play a significant role in driving the club up the table.

“It is not going to be easy for Duach and me because it takes time for us to reach a certain level of understanding with the current crop of players and this cannot be done overnight. Nevertheless, I have always been known to be a fighter and rest assured that I will fight to help the club achieve its goals.”
