I-League 2017/18: UEFA licensed coach conned in India, Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj comes to the rescue

What's the story?

India have always claimed to be one of the most hospitable countries in the world, but on more than one occasion it has proved to be otherwise. Instances of con-men using any means necessary to fleece foreigners are very common and it seems that Danny Olson, who has UEFA A and UEFA U-21 coaching license, faced one such ordeal.

Olson revealed via his Twitter that a con-man posing to be from one of the academies made him lose practically everything as per a three year contract. Olson further goes on to say that Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj stepped in and has since provided him with legal aid to rescue the hapless situation.

Ranjit Bajaj is the owner of Minerva Punjab and has given all in his pursuit to make the club achieve success. His efforts have borne fruit recently with the team making their I-League bow in 2017.

The heart of the matter

The tweet from Olson reveals some shocking details about him leaving a well paying job in Delhi to develop football further in India by moving to Jaipur where the catastrophic meeting with the con-man took place. After virtually losing everything, he was forced to contact Ranjit Bajaj who helped him out by offering the services of his own lawyer who subsequently filed a case in Jaipur.

Bajaj has always been a saviour for his friends as well as supporters of Minerva Punjab. Once he had even played as a goalkeeper during his club's turbulent times. His efforts haven't gone to waste as Minerva are currently placed at the top of the I-League.
