I-League 2017: Shillong Lajong vs Gokulam FC, Player ratings

The second match of the I-League between Shillong Lajong FC and Gokulam Kerala FC was an end-to-end affair with both the team's attackers creating some good chances. Gokulam FC who had their first taste of I-League, showed a decent performance at their debut at Meghalaya. Mbele and Deory tested the defense on many occasions, and at last it was the latter who came on top with the winner. Gokulam FC gave a good fight in their first game before falling to a second-half goal.

Let's take a look at the player ratings for the game.

Shillong Lajong Football Club

Phurba Tempa Lachenpa 6.5 - One of the top player tonight, Phurba was able to neutralise the threat from Gokulam FC strikers. Although the young goalkeeper was hesitant to come forward on one vs one situations, Phurba had a huge role to play in keeping the clean sheet.

Kynsailang Khongsit 6.5 - The right-back had a good game. Khongsit didn't have much to do in defence, but helped in taking the ball forwarded supplying some crosses balls.

Juho Oh 6 - Juho was tested by Mbele on many occasions in the game but reached out with late tackles to get his team the clean sheet.

Laurence Doe 6 - Doe had come under some pressure, but he did well to put in some good tackles and avert the danger.

Rakesh Pradhan 6.5 - The attacking full-back had a good game going forward. Rakesh got a couple of chances on goal as well. He was also decent in his defensive duties, neutralising the threats from wide areas.

Redeem Tlang 6 - Redeem created some good chances in the game and got a good opportunity to take Shillong Lajong in front with a freekick from Samuel. He used his pace to test the Gokulam defence.

Hardy Cliff Nongbri 6 - Hardy got some good chances in the game. He controlled the midfield well, and created a few good chances for Deory. Hardy also tried his luck from some long-range shots.

Daniel Odafin 6 - Daniel was good at controlling the midfield and winning the ball for Shillong Lajong. He also used his pace to go forward and create some good chances for his side.

Aiman Saleh Abdullah Al-hagri N/A- Aiman started the game strongly but it was not his day as he was substituted on 15 minutes due to injury.

Samuel Lalmuanpuia 6.5 - The young striker had a wonderful work rate throughout the game, and was a constant goal threat to Gokulam. Lalmuanpuia was the set-piece taker for the team as well, and delivered good crosses into the box, assisting Deory with a free kick. The young captain played with full energy but failed to find the end product.

Alen Deory 6 - Created a lot of good chances throughout the game but lacked in finishing. Deory made good runs into Gokulam FC's box most of the time. He scored the only goal in the game from Samuel's free kick.

Nikhil C Barnard 6 - Nikhil had a good game, making some good saves from close range, but could do little to save Deory's goal.

Sushanth Mathew 6.5 - The experienced Kerala player took a versatile role in the game. Sushanth was good at defending with strong tackles and was good going forward. He could have done better at putting crosses into the box, though. Age seems to be taking its toll and Sushanth seemed poor in tracking back.

Ugochukwu Emmanuel Chigozie 5.5 - Made some crunching tackles, but ended up injuring himself while going in for one of these. Emmanuel could have done better at defending, though he kept Shillong attack quiet in the first half.

Daniel Addo 6 - He was also good at neutralizing the aerial threats. Addo did well in keeping Deory and Samuel quiet for most of the game.

Provat Lakra 5.5 - Lakra was decent at defending on the left side, going in with some strong tackles. He was poor at crossing the ball when he went forward, though.

Arif Shaikh 5 - Arif had a game to forget. Mostly failed to control the midfield and was unseen in the match most of the time.

Khaled Alsaleh 5- Like Arif, Khaled too had a game to forget. Failing to keep possession and losing the ball to the opposition on various occasions, Khaled failed to control the midfield.

Mohammad Rashid 6.5 - Rashid did well, both in his defensive duties as well as while attacking. Made some good runs testing the Shillong defence. He also did well in winning the ariel threats.

Thaivalappil Mohamed Irshad 6 - Irshad had a decent game against Shillong Lajong. He was good at winning aerial challenges and played a few good passes to Mbele.

Bayi Kamo Stephane 5.5 - Kamo had a poor game. A couple of bad first touches and some bad shots were all that he contributed to the match.

Lelo Blaise Mbele 6.5 - Mbele showed good pace throughout the game, going forward most of the times. He got some good one vs one chances in the game but failed to convert them. Physically, Mbele was good at making spaces, but in the end, failed to convert the chances.
