While the whole of India is quite excited to hear the decision of FIFA on whether they give permission to India to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup, it might be possible that India will get to host AFC Challenge Cup 2014 football tournament. AFC officials have recently visited some stadia of India, as they think that India will be the best platform to host this mega tournament among the 2nd tier Asian footballing nations.

The AFC officials have visited the venue of the 75th Nehru Cup, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and Barabati stadium in Cuttack to inspect the facilities, ground conditions and infrastructures. As the pitch of the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium was flooded in some of the Nehru Cup matches, that’s why it is believed that a golden chance is lying in front of Odisha to host the next edition of the AFC Challenge Cup.

India hosted this highly rated tournament last time in 2008 when they won the final against Turkmenistan by 3-1. As a result, India also qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2011.

Meanwhile, the winner of the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 will take part in the AFC Asian Cup 2015, which will be held in Australia.
