What’s the story?

Luv Kapoor, a U-19 footballer from Delhi, has signed for fourth tier Spanish Club Palamos CF. Incidentally, no Indian has ever signed for a Spanish football club which plays in a higher division in the past.

In case you didn’t know...

Luv had earlier trained in England and France. His transfer happened during the January transfer window and it was processed by the AIFF.

Palamos has a touch of history attached to it as it is the oldest club in Catalonia and third oldest in Spain.

The heart of the matter

Luv got this golden opportunity with the help of ‘Perfect Football’, which is a Spanish Football academy that trains young players. It also facilitates the interested footballers to play in European Leagues through trials and training opportunities with the European Clubs.

At a press conference in Spain Luv said, “I am very happy with this experience. I want to help the team achieve their goals.”

The youngster wants to make an impact in this league and going forward, he has dreams of playing for other Spanish clubs which ply their trade in the higher divisions of Spain.

This is the first time in 120 years of the Palamos’ history that they have signed a player of Indian Origin. This has opened a new scope for the Indians as the Spanish club will constantly be monitoring the progress of footballers from this part of the world.

What’s next?

Luv is expected to make his debut for Palamos very soon and it will be interesting to see how quickly he adjusts to the Spanish conditions.

Author’s take

This is a great opportunity for Luv to showcase his talent in foreign conditions. If he is able to consistently perform for Palamos, he will be able to attract the attention of other Spanish clubs.
