Gianluca Zambrotta is the new manager of Delhi Dynamos

Last year's ISL semi-finalists Delhi Dynamos will kick start their 2016 Indian Super League campaign against defending champions Chennaiyin FC on Thursday. Former Juventus player and new Delhi manager Gianluca Zambrotta held his press conference ahead of the game.

When asked about the pre-season and how the team are shaping up, the 39-year-old replied that he is very happy about their pre-season in England and Sweden. Zambrotta then added that the real season starts on Thursday and he is up for it.

Delhi Dynamos is the second team the former full-back is managing and the Italian said that he wants to make sure that the team is compact.

"For me it is very important that the team is very compact. The team has to attack together and also defend together. It is important that our mentality is win mentality", Zambrotta said.

The Indian Super League focuses on providing a platform for Indian players and Indian football, and Zambrotta expressed his satisfaction with the Indians in his squad and said that they are growing by the day.

Former French international Florent Malouda will captain the Delhi Dynamos

Delhi Dynamos have re-signed former Chelsea player Florent Malouda as their marquee player this season and when asked about the importance of the Frenchman, Zambrotta explained that Malouda is a key player to the team.

"Malouda is a very important player for us. He is the captain and also he can help the young players grow up, so he is very important for us", the Delhi Dynamos manager said when asked about Florent Malouda.

Zambrotta will face his countryman and former teammate, Marco Materazzi's side in his first game as the Delhi Dynamos manager. The two former players were part of Italy's World Cup-winning squad in 2006 and know each other well.

The former Chiasso manager is relieved as he doesn't have any injury worries in the squad and will be able to field the best eleven against Chennaiyin FC on Thursday.

Delhi Dynamos under Gianluca Zambrotta will be looking to have a successful campaign this time and will be hoping to accomplish more that what they did in the last two seasons.
