What's the story?
ATK head coach Teddy Sheringham flew from Kolkata to Dhaka to watch his son Charlie play for Saif Sporting Club in the Bangladesh Premier League earlier this week.
The former England international has not had the best of starts to his managerial job in India with ATK currently sitting at the bottom end of the ISL 2017 table. However, Sheringham admits that he is currently enjoying his life in India despite his side's poor run of form.
In case you didn't know...
Sheringham enjoyed a glittering career as a player and made over 236 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 98 goals in the process. The striker also played for Manchester United and scored the equaliser against Bayern Munich in their infamous comeback win back in 1999.
The former three lions' striker also managed to earn 51 caps for his country, scoring on 11 occasions for his side. Sheringham is also the tenth highest goal-scorer in the history of the Premier League with 147 goals to his name.
The heart of the matter
Despite being just a non-league player in England, Charlie still has the support and backing of his father. Sheringham's presence in Dhaka to support his son is the prime example for the same. Charlie managed to score twice in his first four appearances for Saif FC but failed to get on the scoresheet with his father watching on.
Sheringham heaped praise on his son while speaking to local reporters in Bangladesh, stating that he is very proud that Charlie came all the way to Bangladesh to try his luck out and normally, people would have shied away from it.
What's next?
Th father-son duo will have their work cut out as the season rolls on, having stuttered in their slow start, the Sheringhams will be looking to turn the tide around in the sub-continent.
